Australia Plastic Surgery is one of the most renowned plastic surgery facilities in Sydney. The operators of APS are focused on quality care, placing specific emphasis on preoperative education and post-operative comfort. Because Australia Plastic Surgery are committed to providing the highest quality outcomes for every step of each client’s procedure, it was of the highest importance for the business to be housed in a modern, welcoming and, most importantly, comfortable environment.
Here’s where Space for Health comes in
Working closely with Australia Plastic Surgery from the very beginning, Space for Health was able to assist with everything from assessing potential sites through to the design process and on towards construction and interior fit-out. A project like this is about far more than just design and construction, and that’s where an experienced healthcare design consultant comes in. Space for Health aims to guide our clients through the difficult process of meeting the requirements of building codes and industry regulations.
Unique solutions for APS
Space for Health‘s senior healthcare architect David McGirr was involved in the project from the very beginning. David states that the earlier a consultant comes on the board, the better it is for the project. Space for Health’s consultants can help a great deal in terms of finding the best site for the build, ensuring the business capture the market they need to by being located in the optimal spot.
David explains how Australia Plastic Surgery needed a unique site on an urban fringe, somewhere the business could take root where their clients can get to them easily. Additionally, APS needed their site to have the flexibility required to construct a top notch facility. Eventually the perfect location was found in Haberfield, located in the inner western suburbs of Sydney.
As Australia Plastic Surgery functions as a both a surgery and inpatient environment, a lot of time was spent developing the interior spaces to serve this purpose in the best way possible. To David, a key architectural priority was a design that allowed the flow of natural light. However it wasn’t simply the interior that required special attention, but the exterior as well. The building needed to be sympathetic to the residential context of it’s surroundings, and as such, the textures and tones of the exterior are referential to the area in which it resides.
